We’re excited to announce that on 19 September 2023, the FAIR-EASE Consortium of 26 partners, coordinated by CNRS, is holding its second full in-person consortium meeting!

What is a data lake and why is it "a unicorn"?

FAIR-EASE is dedicated to opening gateways for the field of earth and environmental sciences by addressing the limitations of the current digital architecture. Our primary focus is to facilitate integrated use of environmental data, overcoming the challenges posed by distributed and domain-specific data repositories.

The Galaxy Community Conference (GCC) is an annual conference focused on the use and development of the Galaxy platform for data-intensive biomedical research. The conference brings together scientists, software developers, and trainers of Galaxy from a variety of disciplines to share their experiences, knowledge, and skills.

The annual EGU General Assembly is the largest geosciences event in Europe, attracting over 16,000 scientists from around the world, with more than half being early career. The meeting covers all Earth, planetary, and space sciences, with over 16,000 oral, poster, and interactive presentations, and features sessions selected by each scientific division, as well as Union-wide sessions such as Great Debates, inter- and transdisciplinary sessions, and short courses. The meeting also includes a job center, artists-in-residence, and a newsletter, and abstracts and materials from all previous General Assemblies are available on EGUsphere, the Union’s central repository for open-access scientific materials.

In this dedicated webinar, FAIR-EASE will present the distributed and integrated services for observation and modelling of the Earth system, environment and biodiversity being developed in close cooperation with user-communities, the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) and research infrastructures in their design and sustainable availability.

The EOSC Symposium is the main EOSC annual event and takes place this year in Prague, Czech Republic, from 14th-17th November 2022 as part of the calendar of events of the Czech presidency of the Council of the EU. This coincides with the Second EOSC Tripartite Event on the 15th of November 2022.

Last 8 of November, the FAIR-EASE consortium partners working on the FAIR-EASE Interdisciplinary Data Discovery and Access Service, met in Ostend, Belgium, hosted by the VLIZ premises (Vlaams Instituut voor de Zee), the Flanders Marine Institute, to set the basis for the future work by:

- creating a common ground of understanding with streamlined terminology and aligning on a common view

- defining roles and responsibilities
